![]() ![]() | Our Venue Until 1995 the Albany Dancentre operated from it's own hall which is now Angela's School of Dance. In 1996 when the centre closed, a group of the younger dancers carried on with junior classes at Connaught, firstly as an informal club and more recently as a professionally run dance academy. Hiring a community space means that we can keep the prices for our customers low whilst still ensuring a high standard of teaching. It also means we have a choice of spaces within the venue depending on our requirements plus a built-in performance space with the Assembly Hall (left, top). The majority of our classes are held in the Assembly Hall which is large enough for us to split classes into smaller groups by grade boundaries and allow pupils to have more individual time with a teacher. We also use the Gymnasium (left, bottom) for some classes and also the Drama Studio for smaller groups. Another benefit of our location is that parents can choose to use the centre's facilities (including the Fitness Suite, sunbed and sports courts including badminton and tennis) whilst their child is taking their class. Quite often other youth groups are operating in other parts of the grounds so a parent might be able to take one child to football or martial arts whilst the other dances with us. There is also a very large, free car park, plus overflow parking on the school playgrounds when events are on, so parents needn't worry about finding a space, which can be rare at other locations. |
